Members of Throwing Muses

Throwing Muses is an alternative rock band that first formed in the early 80's and continued to produce albums during the 1990s and early 2000's. The band has had three constant members at its core, and a dramatic and unique sound. A number of other band members have come and gone during the two decades they produced music.

Bernard Georges

Bernard Georges was born in March of 1965 and has performed with both Throwing Muses and 50 Foot Wave. He is best known for playing the base guitar. When he started with the group in the 1980s he was strictly a roadie, doing set up construction for the band on tour. Later, however his skills with a base guitar were discovered. He began playing gigs with the group in 1992 and was soon featured on a number of albums. He has also played guest appearances with Fritter, Count Zero and Lakuna. Beginning in 2003 Georges began recording with California-based band 50 foot Wave. He also works as a bicycle repairman on the side.

Kristin Hersh

Kristen Hersh was born in August of 1966 and is best known as a solo artist though she did extensive work with Throwing Muses. She wrote the memoir Rat Girl, which was published by Penguin Books in 2010 and is co-founder of the non-profit group CASH music. She is responsible for writing and leading production on most of Throwing Muses’ songs and has penned the music group’s sound which mixes hardcore-rock and punk sounds, with an altering temp.

David Narcizo

David Narcizo was born in May of 1966 and has worked as the drummer for Throwing Muses since its inception. He departed from the band after their 2003 world tour to pursue his other passion, graphic design.

Throwing Muses produced a total of five albums. Though the band has dissolved and the members have moved on to other efforts their distinct sound remains in their work.
